10 Ways Kids Can Earn Money

What are some ways kids can earn money? There are plenty of ways for them to earn a few bucks here and there. Encourage your kids to find creative ways to earn money.

My daughters tried everything. They put their heart and soul into each business venture they created. Not only did they earn a little cash, they learned a lot of skills that serve them well. Additionally, they had a lot of fun along the way.

Below are ten ways kids can earn money:

1. Pet sitting

My girls made good money pet sitting. They walked dogs, fed cats, fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, you name it. When friends were out of town, they were on duty.

2. Watering and collecting packages

When friends are away, the girls water their plants, pick up their packages and tend to whatever else they might need. This also brings in some cash as well as gives them responsibility.

3. Babysitting

I am surprised at how much people pay for babysitting. I remember babysitting and I don’t remember getting paid nearly as much. Babysitting is a great opportunity for kids who like kids and if they are good, the referrals are priceless.

4. Facepainting

My friends daughter paints faces at birthday parties and she makes some serious cash. She uses her artistic abilities and she is great with kids. We’ve hired her multiple times for events.

5. Mowing lawns

Just a few houses each week could score you some decent coin. They can hit up the neighbors who do not have regular landscaping so they do not need to travel far with a mower.

6. Kids can earn money selling crafts

If your kids are crafty they can make items to sell at a local boutique. Better yet, they can have a garage sale and include sell their crafts there. If they are really serious, help them open an online store on Etsy.

7. Tutoring is a great way kids can earn money

Many kids get paid for tutoring other students. For example, at my son’s high school they have a tutoring center. Many of the kids are paid to tutor. There are also opportunities for kids to help other kids with music and sports.

8. Car wash

Organize a neighborhood car wash. It’s a fun way to earn some money and cool off in the hot summer months.

9. Pass out flyers

I did this one as a kid and I made quite a bit of money. Although it might not seem to be as popular, there are still businesses that market with flyers. Find your local realtor or a new local business. The benefit here is you will most likely tag along so you will get some exercise.

10. Extra chores at home are another way kids can earn money

For younger kids, doing extra chores at home helps them learn to earn there money. Additionally, they feel good about helping.

There are many other ways that kids can earn money. It is just a matter of being creative. What are some of the things your kids have done? I’d love to read your comments.
